Attitudes
1. Where will we be staying during our
visit to His High Places? When you come to HHP for a
typical 6 day visit, you stay in separate cozy guest quarters having
a living room, full kitchen, dining area, and separate
bedroom with a queen sized bed and full bath.

2. What makes His
High Places unique? First and foremost, our counseling is
99% one-on-one instead of group. Our counseling approach is a
combination of diagnostic listening, spiritual surgery for root
causes, and prayerful application. Together with you, we attempt to
discover the roots of the problem and design a recovery plan that is
God-directed and believable. We attempt to go deeper than behavioral
modification by placing root causes under deep prayer therapy,
utilizing biblical inner healing (Eph. 3:16), soaking prayer,
individual counseling and acknowledgement of (with preparation for)
spiritual warfare. One of the chief functions of victorious
counseling is to see that you are accurately understood -- but it
should not stop there. God has answers and solutions. Also, we
encourage you to actually embrace your healing as a process.

3. What do we
expect from you, the clients? We ask for 3 things from
you: - Teachability - Full disclosure -
At least 3 prayer warriors covering you while at HHP
With the
Holy Spirit's leading, plus the length and frequency of sessions,
issues are addressed that may have never been
explored.

4. What about
follow up? Near the end of an HHP visit, action and
follow-up plans are drawn up for back home. Sometimes that includes
phone counseling appointments and suggested shorter follow-up visits
to HHP.

5. What is the
typical daily routine like? Each day we begin sessions
between 10:30 and 11am, breaking for lunch around 12:30 or 1:00 pm. In the afternoon there are assignments of reading,
videos and/or other work as well as plenty of free time. Your next
session will begin at about 3:30 pm and wrap up around 5:30 pm. We gather
for supper together about 6 pm. After supper we work a bit more,
then end with a major motion picture which has appropriate teaching
value.

6. What
types of issues do you address? We bring scriptural
direction to those of you who need the renewing and the healing
touch of Jesus Christ. Some issues for which we see real progress
are: - Moral failure: affairs, financial misconduct,
dishonesty, pornography - Inordinate anger -
Depression, burnout, workaholism and grief processing -
Marital disharmony, strife - Life management and relational
issues (life out of control) - Divorce recovery and
self-worth issues - Adult sexual dysfunction and
sins - Career disillusionment and clarification -
Past childhood abuse which interrupts life (emotional, physical or
sexual) - Financial bondage/mismanagement - Child
discipline problems often due to not recognizing one's family as top
priority after God and before
vocation

7. Attitudes We are both humbled and
awed by what God is doing through the ministry of His High Places.
There comes a time when we must "get off the treadmill" to seek God
when life's pressures prevent us from functioning as God desires.
Surrounded by the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, God's healing
process begins. We are convinced Satan's number one target is the
home. Disruption, harm or disillusionment in the home causes damage
not only to the current home, but future generations as well. It
certainly isn't the "abundant life." When a marriage is restored or
a life put back on track, the whole body of Christ benefits.
Our first calling is to those in full time ministry. Over
50% of you are referred by pastors, counselors and former clients.
HHP in effect becomes a counseling arm to the larger Body of Christ.
Folks have come from 23 states and from at least 16
denominations, as well as various parachurch and independent
organizations.
8. Is there
paperwork that needs to be filled out?
Yes, the Client
Services Coordinator will send you a packet of forms to complete
prior to your arrival.
